Initial interview by video went well. They requested that I take a PI Index test. Received a quick turnaround asking for an in-person interview for the next week. The in-person interview was to be three hours, with multiple people from the company. People were generally friendly, interesting working conditions with a small tour of their on-site hardware testing facility, followed by questions from a lot of management staff, and four developers. Most developers are microcontroller-level designers and engineers, only one person had any web application experience. One manager actively hostile toward software developers, which felt odd, considering that was the advertised role I was interviewing for, going so far as to talk down about software developers never delivering what they promised. The interview asked a lot of questions about microcontroller level programming, including whether I would be open to learning MATLAB and performing coding for machines. Time went quickly, and everyone was (with the one exception) very friendly, but it was obvious that none of them had experience managing a web application project. There was also a constant repetition of the phrasing "we're a family" and "we pitch in to help each other like a family" which is a little worrisome.
