BUYER BEWARE:
Contacted by voice message on a Tuesday 330pm by Textron Recruiter in Maryland.
Told in voice message, hiring manager has my resume and would like to schedule a phone interview for the PM job I applied to 3 months ago.
Called Textron recruiter back, told my availability, specifically M-F 8am to 5pm cst; meaning, I am available to meet your hiring managers needs and I stated this exactly.
Textron recruiter said, ok great, I will get with hiring manager, call you back and try and set up a day and time for later this week or early next week, then send an email to confirm.
I replied great.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday......crickets...........that Friday afternoon I called recruiter to ask status and follow up to be prudent; Textron recruiter says, it's my Friday off, we work alternate Fridays; I said, ok, he said call me Monday and I will try and get with the hiring manager to confirm a schedule.
Monday, my plans were to call that afternoon, so as to enable the recruiter to follow up with the hiring manager.
The same Monday, at 1pm cst, the hiring manager calls me, I just happened to pick up the phone because I was awaiting a local call from my vet about a dog; the hiring manager says is now a good time to talk?
I said, well actually I don't have you scheduled today, there must be a mix up; the hiring manager says, so you are not scheduled today? I said no, the recruiter never emailed or verbally told me a day or time for the phone interview.
Now, I did say, I can discuss my resume if you like, but I am not prepared with the job description or company and I am not prepared, can we reschedule?
As I am talking to the hiring manager, he instant messages the recruiter, the recruiter admits that he sent the schedule to the wrong email address.
So now, I ask, when can we reschedule, the hiring manager says, well, I will have to get with the recruiter. I let him know my interest in pursuing the position further.
That same Monday, I called the recruiter to tell him my feedback, so as to enable him to get my side of the story; the recruiter admitted he messed up, I said ok, no problem, but wanted to just give him feedback on what the hiring manager and I spoke about and to be able to actually reschedule a firm date and time in hopes that this would not tarnish my candidacy.
The recruiter said, I will have to get with the hiring manager.
I called back a week later and spoke with the recruiter, after his phone message system was full, and when I spoke with him he stated he was still trying to get ahold of the hiring manager and the local HR rep.
Still no reschedule, still no rejection or proceeding to the next step confirmation.
How screwed up; well, it's purposeful, Textron does not want to hire older, experienced candidates, so this is how you get treated and weeded out.
Sad, but true!! Ageism at it's best with the government contractors.
To this day, I don't have any information about the job and it's still posted. I will not waste my time applying any longer to these knee jerk idiots who can't do the basics!!
Pathetic!!
