It started out a good experience but it went south pretty quick. I was contacted by a talent recruiter about my application for a senior communications specialist role and had a standard phone conversation about my qualifications. About a week later, I had another conversation, this time with the hiring manager about the role and we had a good talk. Next was an in-person interview that was to be with the hiring manager, an HR person (different than the one scheduling interviews) and the marketing vp. Again, I had good dialogue with the hiring manager as well as the HR rep. The marketing vp couldn't participate so I was to talk to her on the phone in a few days. Then it gets weird. The talent recruiter emails me to schedule the interview, I accept and then a few hours later she says they have decided to move on with other candidates and she makes a big point of saying this is a junior role but they want someone with a deep industry experience. The talent recruiter was directly countering everything the hiring manager told me. The position was listed as a senior role and the hiring manager specifically said several times during our phone and in-person interview that she was looking for someone with more experience, that it had been junior in the past but now she had the opportunity to hire someone more senior and in particular, someone who could act as a mentor to younger team members. That whole experience was easily the most unprofessional one I have ever had with a potential employer. I lost all respect for them. they even scaled the down the position from senior to just a regular specialist role. A shame about Textron too because I really liked the hiring manager and was hopeful I would get to work with her.
