      Entrevista

The director of recruiting reached out to me on LinkedIn about their new open role. I did not apply. She requested a call, and we met for a remote interview. She was friendly and the role sounded great, it was something that was a great fit for my background and experience. The call went very well and she expressed interested in moving me forward in the process. At the end of the interview, I let her know I was in my first trimester of pregnancy, but given that this was my third child while in a leadership role, I knew how to plan and prepare for the upcoming maternity leave. She assured me that should not be a problem, but said she would talk with her head of HR about it and reach back out. I never heard from her again, despite sending repeated messages to her. Given we had an actual interview, some kind of response or update is warranted. It is very clear I was ghosted because I was pregnant. If you are pregnant or might be starting/expanding a family, I would stay away from this company.

Our Director of Recruitment responded with this email to the candidate, and would like to share with all of you: First and absolute foremost, I'm so sorry! As soon as I read your review, I thought OMG, this is the last thing I wanted [name redacted] to feel!! The job market is gnarly right now and I pride myself on trying to help folks either find jobs and or get support in some way from TD, so I've failed you in that respect, and I'm sorry for that! I looked back at our communication, and I think I know what happened. Once I followed up with you after our original call and prompted you to apply, you replied to me on LinkedIn. LinkedIn can be overwhelming as there are so many messages, and I missed it. I didn't receive an application from you nor a response to the original email, and that doesn't make this "your fault" by any stretch, but email is much easier to catch as sometimes LinkedIn, even as a helpful job tool, can be so...flooded with messages. Also, I want to be transparent: the Delivery role changed significantly since we last spoke. It evolved from a Director to a VP-level position, with very different expectations. I re-launched the search in mid-January with a focus on candidates with extensive VP-level experience at other consultancies—so the criteria shifted quite a bit mid-process, which I know can be incredibly frustrating from the outside. With that said, I'm delighted to state that I'm pregnant with my first 🙂 I actually found out in early January, so I'm now at the 5 month mark. Test Double has been super supportive, with time off, camera off, team members taking over meetings, really whatever I need. I'll be taking time off from Sept - EOY off to spend time with the baby. I'd love to chat with you [name redacted]. Whether it's to hear your perspective, or perhaps something I completely missed, or discuss your job search experience (happy to help with a resume review, sending your resume to a few of my contacts, etc), I'm here for it.
