I only got the behavioral interview with a recruiter. I am certain I did very well on it, but as I figured later, they found someone with more experience than me. During the interview recruiter sounded very excited and pleased about my answers. I followed up with him one week after the interview and he told me that hiring manager decided not to go forward.

Standard behavioral questions like: Why do you want to work for Tesla? Describe your biggest success and so on. Nothing tricky if you prepared for it.
My experience is relevant to the DEI debates in the news lately, because this experience happened to me during an interview for a technical role at Tesla. Although Elon Musk is well known to be against DEI policies because he believes that changes the standard, after my interview experience it's clear to me his company may have a culture problem.
I (white male) had interviews with two Indian people for a role at Tesla. The first was a recruiter, the second an engineer. And both cases raised concerns for me against Tesla's culture.
1) The recruiter gave me issues in scheduling the interview. She scheduled my interview at a time when I told her I'm unavailable. Then nobody showed up to the meeting. And she didn't bother to apologize for that. Logistically, my interview process was delayed two weeks.
2) When I finally had the interview, after about 15 minutes in, the engineer interviewer stepped away from the interview for nearly two minutes. And then he came back and made inflammatory remarks about my math notation (a standard used in some books) being confusing. From there, he proceeded to stop me and write the whole answer out himself.
I didn't get an offer, but it was clear to me there's a culture problem at Tesla. I'd be willing to bet they hired an Indian for the role I applied to.
