Initial phone screen lasted for 30 minutes with hiring manager. The phone screen was very direct and to the point without any general interaction. Two weeks later, I was requested to come for a series of face to face interviews. Synovus did direct bill for a hotel and car rental. However, they did not reimburse for any meals or gas associated with my trip. Once I arrived, I was put into a conference room for a series of four - 1 hour interview sessions. These sessions mainly involved interviewing with department staff, which I found very odd. There were no interviews with business partners, which gave the impression that this department acts in a vaccum or with very little power. Some of the department staff were very friendly during the interviews. However, there was interviewer that was boarder line hostile and openly disagreed with the hiring manager strategic direction. He/she appeared upset that I would agree with with direction and didn't understand how the hiring manager would be successful. I even gave several real world examples of how his strategy has worked that other companies, but it was just discounted because of his / her personal views. After the interviews, I was told to expect a decision in one week. However, it was two weeks before I heard back from them in "any" form. All and all, the department appears to have a legacy staff that is set in their ways and directly conflicts with the reviews of department leadership. There appeared to be no room for someone that brings fresh ideas into this position. Basically, they were looking for a "Yes Man"...
