The start was fine. Quick and efficient, an in person interview was scheduled by an AI interviewer from the Staples site. I received a confirmation text the night before the interview, asking me if I would be there. I answered Y, and received a "great, see you then!" reply.
I was instructed to arrive at least 10 min early and bring a paper copy of my resume.
The day before my interview, I did all the appropriate things, pressed my outfit, practiced interview questions, manicured my nails. I woke early on the interview day, took my time to get ready ( looked extra polished ), checked my google maps ( AGAIN ), and then made the 45 min drive to the Staples to meet with my interviewer for my 1000am appointment.
When I arrived (15 min early ), I introduced myself and was told " we don't have interviews today, go wait by the furniture. I'll call a manager ". Eventually, an assistant manager came to repeat that I was not expected and my name was not known to anyone there. She then called someone else ( in front of me ) and I was told that I should leave my name and phone number to have my interview rescheduled. I offered to leave my resume ( the one I was instructed to bring ) but she declined, saying it was for the manager. At that point she said " sorry about this, we have several others coming too ". Late the following day, I received a call from someone, saying they where calling to reschedule my interview. No explanation or apology was offered for my previous interview experience.
I chose not to reschedule the interview. Imo, if this is the unprofessional and disrespectful way that Staples treats employment candidates, I think working for them might be very unhappy.
