After 1-2 very positive initial convos with the hiring manager and a portfolio review with the team I was scheduled for my final round of 1 on 1s. These were abruptly canceled less than 24 hours in advance and I was told by the recruiter that they would be rescheduled the following week. However, the following week I was told that the position had already been filled and that there was no longer a role to interview for. I am extremely disappointed with the poor communication, disorganization and lack of transparency. It felt very disrespectful and I never got an acknowledgement, let alone an apology, from the hiring manager (who had been super helpful and supportive up until this point). Hopefully this is just a one off and not an indication for how SoFi treats other applicants and employees.

Was contacted by email to schedule a phone interview, and once scheduled I felt confident. When the interview arrived, and I picked up the phone, I was greeted with "I can't find your resumé" and "I don't know what the hiring manager is looking for, let me pull up the job description." Thrown off guard, we went line-by-line down the requirements, and they just asked me to respond with my relevant experience. Keep in mind, I wasn't contacted by a 3rd party recruiter, I was contacted by SoFi's SENIOR technical recruiter. Nevertheless, this went on for about ten minutes before they stopped me mid-sentence to say, "I'll ask the hiring manager to see if you can continue the process because you check all the boxes but one." Then hangs up. About 5 hours later, a call: hiring manager. "Are you willing to relocate?" "When will you have your degree?" My responses made them comfortable and they scheduled an in-person. Once the in-person was scheduled, "You know what, we are going to go with other candidates" and hangs up. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! Then another 2-hours later, the formal rejection email arrives.
