I was recommended to Slalom by a former colleague who advocated for me for a SharePoint developer position. He and I had worked together for 3 years prior, and he couldn't say enough great things about Slalom - so I applied. I was originally interviewed for this position in November of 2014; however, this position fell through with a the client. Slalom was very honest with me, and I really appreciated that. They stated that it was all about timing for them. They want to bring people in when they have a client already lined up, which makes total sense in the consulting world. They told me they'd keep in touch, and they did. I stayed with my old company and a couple months passed. I would reach out every few weeks and eventually a new opportunity came up - so they brought me back in. I met with HR, then some consultants with the prospective client, my future direct manager, and then the GM of the Hartford office. Everyone was honest, up front and engaging. They really wanted to see what I knew, what I didn't know, and the kind of person I am. One of the biggest things that they try to guage is your personality in this process. It is so important to Slalom that you fit in with their culture. They look for people who want to succeed, who are willing to learn and grow, who are willing to try new things, and those who are driven. I got the position, and I started in April of 2015. I was benched for one day and I started with the client on day 2. Four months in, I'm still here and I can honestly say that Slalom is by far the best company I've ever worked for. They look to hire the best, so you can expect to work with the best. Their compensation and benefits are great. However, the most rewarding aspect of this job are the people an culture of Slalom. We work hard, and we play hard. My move to Slalom was the best move I've ever made. I can't imagine working for anyone else.
