I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn. I did a phone screen with the recruiter and then a video interview with the associate controller. My experience with the recruiter was fantastic. She followed through and communicated effectively throughout the process.
My experience with the associate controller left something to be desired. I am a high performing employee currently managing an accounting department. I am more than qualified for this role and would have done great. I was told that they loved me, but the associate controller was going to pass because I wasn't currently processing with ADP. I stated my case, that basic system function of ADP was not what a leader should hinge their choice on, but rather the ability to learn and leverage systems to their max potential. I have hired several payroll professionals during my career, and you'll always be better off with a self starter over a button pusher.
All in all, it's for the best as we clearly did not align here and reading the reviews here affirms this.
