The manager called me and asked several questions directly related to my intern job. These questions are very specific. Basically you need to get some ideas about what they are doing. Also, you need to be clear about things you listed on the resume. However, for research interns, they generally don't ask questions about detail programming. You assume that you will at least program with Matlab, of course, most of them use C++ heavily.
