Applied for the Senior Product Consultant role back in May 2023 and never heard back on the role until July 2023 which by then I had entirely forgotten about the role. During the initial screening, the indicated base salary for the senior role ranged between $150,000 - $200,000 USD, contingent on experience. Despite initial enthusiasm, communication lapsed until the end of August 2023. The 2nd round vetting in September involved a somewhat disheartened employee, with a high level of negativity. However, the role itself remained interesting, even though there seemed to be conflicting roles / titles within Shopify across different departments. Following zero communication, the internal recruiter re-emerged in mid-October 2023. The 3rd round growth path interview took an unexpected turn when the salary range was revised to $80,000-$120,000 but still being considered a "Senior" level position. The recruiter seemed perplexed when confronted with the initial salary expectations, despite documented evidence of previous conversation via email. The subsequent growth path interview was characterized by typical behavioral questions and a lack of response for three weeks, prompting multiple follow-ups. Finally, a 4th round interview with the hiring manager was scheduled, essentially mirroring the 2nd interview. When raising concerns about the salary inconsistency, the response was deferred to the recruiter. No response again for 3 weeks when a different recruiter emailed , indicating a transition from the previous recruiter. The process moved towards a case study final portion, with a promise to follow up with details. However, four weeks have passed without any communication and have been completely ghosted. This team seems to have no idea what they are looking for in a candidate and low balling salaries. I'm not sure if they got mixed up in CAD vs USD currency but $80,000-$120,000 for a senior level technical role is far below market value.
