      Entrevista

I applied online. After a month I got a phone call informing me that I would have an 1o1 interview with the Head of Country & at the same time I had to prepare a very detailed task in 4 days. The interview with the Head of Country was ok and easy-going and I was informed instantly that I would move forward to the next steps. Then they scheduled a video call with one of the real estate associates (no hr!) to review my task. She rescheduled the interview two times & when we finally got there, she hadn't even reviewed the task beforehand. I presented it real-time and I was informed that I had to re-do it in more detail. I did so, sent her the new presentation and scheduled another call. She rescheduled again, this time only half an hour before our scheduled call. Again, she hadn't reviewed my work. At the end of the call she told me I would get her feedback in about 4 days. Two more weeks have passed and still no news. I can tell that the procedure is rather faulted and my experience gave me a very wrong impression about the company. I probably won't go forward with them, even if I pass to the next step.

After an initial conversation with HR, said I was selected to move forward to the next stage of the process which included developing a concept deck. The exercise was incredibly scattered, massive is scope and unnecessarily granular. It was also to be completed in 4 days. This should have been a final round exercise after both parties felt the role was a mutual fit. After submitting the deck (albeit resentfully) I next had a conversation with someone in the Real Estate team to discuss my work. To this day have no idea how she’d be involved in the role I was interviewing for but either way she clearly had not reviewed that deck in advance of the call. She was incredibly short and clearly made a presumptive decision about my candidacy, based purely on my resume, without even reviewing my work. That exercise was such a waste of my time and intellectual property. When she did ask me an actual question instead of just talking at me, she’d cut me off so I couldn’t even finish answering. Her problem, she said, was that my background was "too corporate" - thus I wouldn’t understand Selina's target audience - even though the deck I had created went into the audiences in depth. After my call with said real estate associate, I thought it strange that the HR told me candidly that the associate didn't want me to move on, even though she felt I was still a strong candidate. As a next step she was going to set me up on some additional interviews yet in an even stranger twist tells me right after the interview email that the role had actually changed from a national position to property based...and did I have experience in event planning for a laundry list of random demographic and psycho-graphic audiences?...certainly not the role I applied for but another twist and turn at this point was not unexpected. Then, radio silence! I followed up via email multiple times to no avail and eventually called the UK long distance to get some answers. Now the latest was that filling the position was on hold, although when further probed HR manager acknowledged I wasn't a candidate for it any longer based on the single decision of that real estate associate. Then she listed a few other random positions maybe I’d be considered for (huh?). Thanks, I’ll pass. Total amateur hour.

      Entrevista

The process all together took 4+ months. It was the most disorganized and inconsiderate recruitment process I have ever experienced in my 15+ year career as a leading professional. I was referred to senior level staff by one of the executives. After being thrown around to a number of poorly scheduled phone "interviews"(one of which was at 3:00am) that spanned a month or two, I was reached out to by numerous HR individuals and tasked with an assignment that any typical company would hire out. The task was to create a full concept deck for a location and the task took about 2 full days to design. After submitting said task another month or two of being thrown around to random team members who happen to be in the city I was applying for. On about the 3rd f2f interview the director level team member said they would be making me and offer. Radio silence for another few weeks where upon, after multiple followups, an HR employee tells me the position had been put on hold. Another month or so of follow ups and HR asks me for an additional task of creating a program schedule which I reluctantly complete. Im then asked to drive to another city to meet with a "real estate associate" (whom Im totally unclear on how she related to the position being hired for). This was my 4th f2f interview at the end of a 4 month process. She had not reviewed any of my assignments nor had ANY knowledge of my recruitment process to date. She was glib, short and unfriendly, however apologetic about the process to date and promised me a final answer within a week. About 2 weeks after that f2f I get a message from HR informing me that the position is "no longer moving forward". *** I see the position currently posted online with "director" in the title but "manager" in the description and the description has been reworked. It is clear that they did not have a solid/strong org foundation before starting this process and engaging potential hires. I understand the company is growing at an exponential rate and leadership is being restructured at the same time as teams are being assembled, however the recruitment was completely inconsiderate and offensive. Again, the process was embarrassing for the company and gave me such a bad impression that I now feel the brand they promote is total marketing fluff as their process and actions are completely out of line with their projected identity and values. I sincerely hope they get their organization together so they can succeed beyond capital investment through execution.

They tasked me with an extensive assignment to create a full concept deck outlining the brand and programming for one of their locations.
