They are mainly interested in seeing you are driven to achieve success and that you know what you are looking to get out of the position you are applying for. My interviewer looked over my resume, took a few minutes to discuss items that provided common ground with their personal interests that were on my resume, I assume to probe the value of my past experiences, and asked me to describe what I am looking for in a job with them and what my goals are.
