      Entrevista

      I applied online and the internal recruiter called me the next day. They had been advertising the job for a long time so I didn't expect them to move that fast. The recruiter sent me a technical test and the recruiter sent back the feedback from the technical test.

      Interview process starts with a person from their own talent team which I find different to other companies. They ask you very traditional personality interview questions and situations you’ve been in at work. They also asked me to go through and list my experience. During the interview they mentioned that the workplace would provide a place where the Senior devs are able to provide support for other devs to grow and learn. However I did not progress through the next stage of interviews as I was told by my recruiter that they told her, Seer cannot provide sufficient support and mentorship I needed with no other feedback. Despite the fact they were looking for a mid-weight developer which I met all requirements for including the tech stack. I’m confused why they are looking for a mid-level developer without having the proper support systems/resources in place for it. Perhaps they require a senior dev instead. As I was interviewed by a non-dev, they did not ask any technical questions to gauge a good understanding of my technical knowledge and how much “support” I would require on the job. I assume this workplace heavily relies on people to work independently with minimal discussion with other devs to help you gain knowledge. This may be okay for some people but I prefer to work at a more collaborative and supportive team environment where everyone is there to help each other grow quickly rather than everyone fends for themselves. It’s unfortunate they told me they can provide mentorship during the interview but then turn back to tell me that they thought I required too much without testing my technical skill. I wished they were more transparent, clarified what I meant by a “supportive culture” and address their concerns rather than make unfair assumptions. From the feedback I received, it sounded like I was negatively judged based on the fact I valued a supportive environment which I thought is what everyone wants in a workplace. I’m glad I did this interview anyway as it gave me a better understanding the type of people who work there! :)
