Submitted application online. Received a response within a week. Phone screen very soon after that. Advanced to face-to-face interview. None of the team including the hiring manager and his boss have background in instructional design. Three came from technology. The hiring manager has a Ph.d in higher education administration. However, he started with the Learning Management System administrator position at Security Compass. The topics of their training were interesting to me. I tried to find a free sample elearning course before the interview, but I could not. Later after the interview, I located the link to the free samples at the top of the course site, a line of small words. I viewed the free samples. I was stunned by the terrible design. I sent my feedback to the recruiter, of course, I made it sound neutral.
The recruiter was very nice and professional. However, the hiring manger's feelings were written on his face. The questions asked by him reflected that he did not know elearning or instructional design. Another interviewer had a computer science degree. He had worked in elearning profession for years and received a number of good remarks about his elearnining ability. His questions showed that he still thinks like a computer science guy.
