I have long been a fan of Samsung and their innovation, but the interview process for the Samsung Knox team in Vancouver was incredibly disappointing. The actual interviews were ok (two in total), but seemed like the interviewers winged it and hardly even researched my work. They were disengaged. I completed a writing assignment (standard in my industry) that had very little instructions. I attempted to go above and beyond by pulling information from several sources, being creative in my structure, and polling several professional colleagues for insights. This took several hours and I did this on a tight weekend deadline, despite a family emergency. They took over a month to respond and when they did it was literally a lazy AUTOMATED REJECTION EMAIL. I am not entitled to a job but I am entitled to respect. They ask you to do all that work and they can't even write a personalized email? I question the tactics of any company that asks you to do a test assignment but does not walk through the exercise with you. I called out the recruiter on this on email and did not receive a response. But it was a blessing in disguise, because at the end of the day, you want to be with a company that values you and your time. I dodged a bullet.
