Received an email a week later asking to complete an assignment with four days' turnaround, which, when received, was a comms plan and a press release. No compensation, although that's still pretty rare. Look, it's up to you what to do here - I did not choose to continue. I had not yet spoken to a human being, did not know what the process looked like, and it felt like - at the best, an oblivious disregard for the candidate's time, at the worst, free work and a knowing, uncaring disregard for the candidate's time. The assignment would've taken hours for a "thoughtful communication plan" and to "craft compelling messaging." Once again - no shame if this happens to you and you choose to continue. Just understand that this is a red flag.
