I went through a thorough four-stage interview process. After a recruiter phone screen and individual discussions with the hiring manager and HR, I presented my projects to a panel of the team for 2 hours, answering their questions and showcasing my skills in a real-world context.
** Overall Interview Experience
My interview experience for the Senior Product Designer role at STERIS was unfortunately disappointing due to several inconsistencies and a lack of feedback.
While the initial conversation with the recruiter was informative and positive, the subsequent interaction with the hiring manager left a negative impression. Their disengaged demeanor and apparent fatigue did not reflect the professionalism I expected from a team leader.
Despite this, I was invited to continue the interview process, which included a behavioral interview with the HR Manager and a presentation to the team. I dedicated significant time and effort to preparing for this presentation, which the hiring manager acknowledged positively.
However, I ultimately received a scripted rejection via voicemail without any specific explanation for the decision. This lack of transparency raises concerns about the company's evaluation process and its value for candidates' time and effort.
Considering the role has been open for nearly a year, it's worth examining whether the job description accurately reflects the team's current needs or if the interview process requires improvement to attract and retain qualified candidates.
