There seems to be a lack of professionalism and proper coordination b/w the HR professionals and staff. I had a first interview that went well and was emailed a few days ago about coming in for a second interview. There were a few exchanges about coordinating availability and then radio silence. I emailed the HR professional yesterday to find out if the meeting had been finalized, and received the following response,
"I apologize. I have been waiting for [name withheld] to confirm with me. Unfortunately, I was asked to cancel all additional interviews for this position. They have decided to move forward with a different candidate whom they feel more closely matches their needs. I apologize for having to do this. I wish you all the luck in your search for a new position." Um, excuse me? You contacted me for an interview, never emailed me back to confirm - I reached out to you to check the status - and then you decide you've changed your mind about the interview? Who does that? Needless to say, a major red flag about the organization and the second interview would have likely been a waste of my time and energy.
