      Entrevista

      I had a friend who had just been offered a position with Robert Half Law and he found another position in the meantime that he felt was a better fit. I asked him to send my resume over for consideration as he thought I would really enjoy working at Robert Half. I had to follow up a few times to catch the District Director who he had passed my resume on to but once I reached her she was very nice and gave me a contact name and number for another Division (other than law) OfficeTeam (administrative assistance). The Division Director of Officeteam called me and we had a telephone interview after which she invited me in for a one on one interview the next day. I arrived in a suit and met with her for about 45 minutes. The interview was comfortable and CANDID which I really appreciated. She then called in the Vice President who interviewed me for about 15 minutes and then took me to the President's office to meet with him. He tried to pursuade me to work at one of their suburban branches (instead of Buckhead) but I pressed through that about 3 times and he ended up accepting that I only wanted to work in Buckhead (that's where I lived). Then, the VP said he would call me. A few days later he called me to offer me the job and went over the two options for salaries 36K with a higher bonus potential or 42K with a lesser bonus potential. I choose the 42K and ran up against a little objection like "most superstars take the lower salary" type of thing but I wiggled out since I was leaving a $50K position and didn't want to take a step back, even if temporarily. I started the next Monday. From the inside, I know now that if they think your attractive, charasmatic, agressive and high energy you will get the JOB immediately. If your being strung along they are not sure about you and want to consult with anyone who will listen, they will have others stop by and peep you out in your little glass room etc. So, if they like you then you'll get in IMMEDIATELY. That's the good news. The managers vacation ALL THE TIME so they take their calls when they are there. If you can't reach them then they are in Hawaii or NY or something and you may have to wait. Here's the deal with Robert Half: It turns over alot. I saw tons of people in all divisions being fired over non-production. Particularly, individuals who had been there a while (became complacent). It's a C enviroment mostly. A huge open bay with 1/2 cubicle sets that represent each division. There's no privacy and everyone can hear every phone conversation. You must be comfortable making COLD calls. Like, you find a company, google their phone number and then call and try to figure out who to talk to that may need a temp. It was fun for me but definitely challenging on those days then I was just not into it. The cool thing is you go on client visits so your not cooped up all day in the office. Most of the co-workers will really cool as you need to hook each other up with contacts at all the business' your calling on. It wasn't cliquey or petty and everyone was really helpful. It was CHALLENGING. I made a myriad of mistakes there by dating a co-worker and then taking a job that paid the same with less hours and a cooler work enviroment that offered traveling to trade shows etc. that a client offered me on my client visit. That was cool for a while but the company folded and now I'm stuck looking for a job like RHI AGAIN. *tear* Overall, don't lie to get this job. I saw people they hired who must have just really BS'd their way in and they were AX'd in less than 30 days. If your slow, meticulous, timid or over analytical then don't waste your time. Great Company with tons of free training both in person and online.
