Interview Process:
- Recruiter chat
- 30 min chat with hiring manager
- Take home that should take a few hours. A previous post exaggerated the difficulty. I personally thought it was straightforward and reasonable. If you don't ace this part, they'll have a follow up call, but I was able to skip that part fortunately.
- Virtual "onsite" (5hrs) where you meet other team members. Mostly talking high level about different software engineering subjects. There's a SQL exam which is mostly tests your knowledge of window functions. There's a dashboard quiz which could use polishing in my opinion, but nothing you can prepare for.
- If that goes well, you have another set of interviews with leadership.
Overall, I was really impressed by the employee-first culture and focus on growth. Kudos to the Head of People and leadership team for developing an environment that can ooze those values even through a virtual interview.
My only small con is that it's a larger than average time investment to apply here with at least 5 rounds. Easily 10 hours of your time to offer even if you think the take home is cake.
My outcome was that they liked me, but weren't 100% comfortable on pulling the trigger for me at the staff level (or so I was told). They invited me to apply for other positions.
