Entrevista
I took the rev captioning test in November 2017. The first test included a grammar quiz which I am certain I aced. Following this, they'd ask you to indicate your typing speed (choose a range) of which I fall between the 40-70wpm category.
Afterwards you would be asked to write a small passage (for example about your hometown). This is part of the test and I was immaculate in my answer with perfect grammar.
A short learning of the style guide and teaching of how to caption is then done after which you are given a sample video to caption within 3 hours. The video was clear and I ensured I followed the guide to the latter while ensuring my grammar had no issues.
I submitted my application and 2 days later I received a reply telling me I didn't qualify and that they could not specify why but rather have some reasons why applicants have failed before.
This was not my expectation and I'm still baffled at the perfection they desired for a first timer. I will however retake the test again and see how it goes.
