I interviewed for a manager-level role that included a combination of virtual and in-person interviews, including a panel interview. The conversations themselves went well, and I appreciated the opportunity to meet with everyone involved. I ultimately advanced to the final round. For the final interview, I was given two in-person time slots with very little notice. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend either option in person. I asked whether the final round could be moved by a few business days, but this was not accommodated. As a result, I was required to complete the final interview virtually, while the selected candidate interviewed in person. I found this approach unnecessarily inflexible and inequitable, particularly given the flexibility I had shown throughout the process in accommodating the hiring manager’s schedule and availability. While I appreciated the people I met, the lack of flexibility at the final stage left a negative impression of the hiring process.
