Entrevista
I started interviewing with RH in April 2017. My initial hour-long interview went well and a second interview was arranged for about 10 days later. This interview went well and left me excited about the possibility of working at RH. The interview questions were outside of the box but I enjoyed the "psychotherapy" "personality test" type questions. A third interview was scheduled for about 10 days later. I was told that I would be leading the next interview and to watch several videos of RH design centers and of the CEO's quarterly report. This interview was harder as I felt I had incorrectly prepared. I was asked about my favorite RH designs and designers and felt I could have done a lot better had I studied the designers more. I was told I would be contacted via email for a 4th interview. After a week and a half of silence, I was contacted by my most recent interviewer to schedule the 4th interview, which was another few weeks away. I went in store again for this interview. It went well once again. At the end of this hour-long interview, I was told that I would be receiving a phone call from the field manager a few days later around 1pm. I was told that the field manager would discuss salary with me, among other things. I heard nothing from the field manager for two weeks. I called my previous interviewer and left a voicemail on her personal cell phone number which she had given me. she finally called me back several days later stating she had been on the road for RH and had no internet or cell service with which to reach me. She set up a time for the field manager to call me. The field manager called at the beginning of June. Remember I began the interview process early April. This phone interview lasted over an hour. She asked me to tell her about myself, beginning with my childhood. And then cut me off and began reading my bio page from my fine art website back to me. "You're on my website" I said, laughingly. "We're very thorough," she answered. "I appreciate that", I said and began telling her about my childhood. At the end of our call, the field manager said I would be hearing from the store manager (my last in-person interviewer) within two days. That time came and went, of course. In fact, I never heard anything again from anyone. 5 hours of interviews for a part time job... The quarterly report came out 2 days after that last phone interview. And it was dismal. Wonder why...

I was asked to read a hiring statement about whom an RH employee is. I was told to identify with a characteristic about myself that resonated with the statement and also to identify a portion of the statement which made me think about where I had an "opportunity" (room to grow - or a weakness). I was told that after I shared my thoughts about how the statement reflected back to me, that my interviewer would share with me her personal likeness in the statement and her personal opportunity. The statement was something like " an RH employee is creative, smart and kind. An RH employee cares about WHAT is right, rather than WHO is right.

They were very welcoming and kind. I applied for Design Assistant, but she said I’d be a better fit for Consultant. After 2 interviews and declining, she mentioned the Design Assistant may be a better fit after all. I honestly think they just needed consultants.

How do the skills in my previous job develop into skills I have now.
I had a phone screen with the associate gallery leader. Overall experience was very informative and helpful since the job description is kind of general. She explained daily tasks of this role and the challenge of this role as well.
Had about 4-5 interviews all of which was a really nice experience. Spoke with individuals from different locations and in different roles. Really enjoyed the process. Got a lot of insight into the culture and values of the company.
