I was approached by the team at RGE for a role in the organization. After completing the entire round of interviews, they asked me to come and visit their operations in Riau.
They told me that the visit will require me to take a minimum of 2 days of annual leave from my work. As taking 2 days annual leave is a huge investment for a recruitment process, I asked for clarity whether: there is an offer, and what the offer looks like.
From the first interview, they have asked me for my current salary and expectation. During the offer stage, after they collected all relevant documents, they shared an offer that is lower than my current salary.
Perplexed that it seems a common practice for RGE to downgrade a candidate's salary in their offer, I politely declined. The recruiter then told me that they will discuss with management regarding my feedback on the 'salary cut' that they offered.
One week later the recruiter came back and sent me - THE SAME OFFER. And told me they asked me to consider as it is a good offer.
Appalled how RGE - both recruiter, hiring manager and all interviewers wasted my time, by asking me to go through round of interviews, and even asked me to come to Riau, when from the very first meeting they have full information on my remuneration package, and they have full knowledge that I am out of their budget range.
