I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn for a contract to hire position at REI. The recruiter scheduled an interview with the hiring manager. I spent about 3 hours prepping for the interview, but when the interview time came, the hiring manager never showed up. She said it was due to technical issues. The recruiter was very apologetic and scheduled the interview again. The second time I spent another two hours preparing for the interview. Again, the hiring manager did not show up. She claimed it was due to personal issues, but did not bother letting the recruiter or me know until about 6 hours after the interview would have been complete. I was really excited about the prospect of working at REI, but my first (and second) impression was very disappointing and unprofessional.
