I was contacted by the hired recruiter directly, he had found my resume on dice.com. The initial conversation was great and he mentioned that the company liked to work quickly and usually liked to have the candidates come in for an interview right away as long as they passed the initial job requirements. I did and came in for an interview. The interview itself went extremely well, but I never heard back. My impression is that the company is scrambling to get people as they have aggressive hiring goals. In this hot job market it does not make sense to not follow up with a candidate, especially if there are so many positions to fill. I understand if that person is not ultimately right for the position you might not have time to follow up, but what about the other positions. I mean you take the time to have someone come in and it goes seemingly well why not see if there is another fit? I was just really surprised especially after I was verbally told that they expected a decision within a day, especially since the interview had gone so well.
