I had a video call and then went in to their headquarters to be interviewed in person. It was really nice getting to tour the office and meet the team and I was really impressed with all the cool benefits that they offer.

Made it to the second round of interviews with two sales managers after meeting successfully with a recruiter. The sales managers were late to the call and started a practice cold call session with me out of the blue. The recruiter did not mention anything about cold calls in the follow up email which is okay, however, I prepared for an entirely different scenario which just made the interview go down hill after that. On top of that, I would get asked one question and be asked to go deeper and deeper within that question. Honestly wasted time with this interview. I prefer companies that look for strong candidates that have the baseline qualities of an SDR rather than companies that just throw their SDRs straight into things.

Phone screening, interview.
I applied at Podium about a year ago and couldn’t be happier that I passed up the opportunity. I applied to a position outside of the sales department originally. When I was in my 3rd interview I was told I needed more sales experience and I should apply as an SDR.
Fast forward a couple months later and I applied to the SDR position as I was encouraged to. After the phone screening I was invited to interview. The manager I interviewed with sucked. Before he even started the interview he told me because I applied to a different position a couple months before he knew I wasn’t serious about this.
Fast forward 1 year later and I’m killing it as an SDR at a different company with a better product, culture, and benefits. Getting to know the industry better, I’ve learned how lucky I am to have not gotten this job. Their average turnover is 3 months for a reason.
