Initially I was contacted by a Recruitment Associate who had a customer adviser role to offer me as a candidate, however after speaking to her further on the phone she then became interested in offering me a role with the company that she was working at which is Plus One Personnel LTD, She asked me a few relevant questions ( a telephone interview to see what I was looking for etc) and then said she would love to pass my details to her manager at the Banbury branch. I enjoyed my conversation with her and said it was okay to go ahead, and was told he will call me back on the same day or the following day. The manager did not call back until a few days after, and when I finally spoke to him he seemed quite rude with his approach which baffled me slightly. He would ask me questions and when I gave him truthful responses he would make comments such as 'not to speculate' or 'I doubt that's the case' as if to say anything I was telling him he did not believe! He then told me that I was too truthful and he said 'I'm not encouraging you to lie, but sometimes you come across as too truthful and your honesty is admirable however it is not what colleagues want to hear' - in other words telling me if I lied I had a better chance of succeeding (however that is not my style). I was disappointed with the way I was spoken to and I felt that I had no reason to lie and make things up but just because the truth did not appeal to his ears he rejected my application (which they suggested in the first place!) he also said he will still help me as a candidate for more roles that they have however he never sent me the email he said he was going to that would allow me to register with them. The conversation was going well up until I was asked what other roles I have applied for and I honestly answered 'Insurance Sales' and his tone changed ever since, he did not like that and decided to go cold on me and then put me down for being honest. I felt as though that whole telephone call was harsh, and as if he called me just to put me down and then to pretend he was going to help me with my job search and still did not go by with what he said because I never heard from any of them since! - The initial role that I was offered before any of the recruitment positions was no longer on offer for me neither !
