The CEO of this company sent me an e-mail "inviting me" to apply. Looking back, I wish I'd just deleted and moved on with my life but I didn't, so here goes...
After an initial phone screening with my would-be direct manager, I went onsite for an interview. First I spoke to an employee on the phone who works remotely, then spoke at length to the same manager who I had my phone screen with. I shared many ideas about what I would implement in the role.
The CEO came in and we discussed my ideas at greater length. He seemed mostly interested in pressing me for more and more ideas. I said I noticed that the company did not respond to their customer's complaints yet he spoke extensively of rewarding "VIP" customers. Eventually he seemed bored of me and sent his HR rep in to tell me I didn't get the job. I was then escorted out.
In a nutshell, the CEO's way of conducting himself left me with a poor impression of the work culture here and I left feeling like I'd wasted my time showing up to this interview.
