Applied thru school by submitting resume - itnerviewed with chief engineer and director of engineering - talked about past projects in detail - if they get the feeling that you know what you are talking about, what you are getting yourself into and are enthusiastic they'll make up their minds on the spot. You'll get the feeling if they wnat you or not.
