I was contacted by the hiring manager by phone, asked a few preliminary question and got the in-person interview set up. At the in-person meeting, the hiring manager was strangely cold and rude; my attempts to even introduce myself properly were blown off, and the interview consisted of a list of printed questions (behavioral, nothing technical). I was told on the phone to prepare for a typing test, but at the interview I was told that would only be after a job was offered.

I submitted an online application and resume for an accessioner position. The application required email addresses of several references, which I found to be an invasive and premature request at this stage of the application process. Usually an employer waits until after a successful interview or phone screening to ask a candidate for references.
Within a day, PAML sent an email with details about the position. The job sounded even less appealing after reading the description:
Although the accessioner job was advertised as a part time day shift position, this particular position would be scheduled to work any shift or day of the week as needed to process specimens from local health fairs. Shift differential pay would be available, however starting pay was $11.61/hr. Although the intended primary shift would be daytime, PAML wanted 24/7 availability for scheduling purposes. A typing test was also required, and I was instructed in the email not to bother interviewing unless I could submit a passing score. Although the typing test posed no problem at all, I imagine very few adults have 24/7 availability when it comes to scheduling--myself included.
Taking into consideration the less-than-favorable reviews of PAML on Glassdoor, and the less-than-stellar email response to my application, I opted not to pursue the accessioner position. In fact, I doubt I'll look at PAML for future employment at all, especially in light of their acquisition by LabCorp and the likely structural changes within the next year.

You'll be scheduled to work various shifts based on incoming specimens. Confirm you are able to work any hours scheduled although your primary scheduled shift is XXX.
