I was called in to do in person interview for a youth advisor position. I felt like the atmosphere there was very hostile. I felt like it was more of an interigation. The guy and woman interviewing me did not seem excited to be there. They asked me questions that really had no perfect answers, but I feel like they expected to have perfect ones. My attempt to lighten the mood was met with fake grins and glances downward. I was asked about the 25 minute drive I would have and if it would be a problem. I wouldn't have applied to a job if I wasn't willing to do the drive. I admit I gave less than a stellar interview. Although, I really think the whole vibe threw me off. I get that this is a position with a lot of responsibility and liability. They want to make sure people know what they are doing. But I just think it was a bit much.
I have a BS in human services. This was a job paying 12.56 and hour. Less than a fast food worker. I was never called. I even politely asked for an email to follow up with and never heard anything back.
