Overall I had a pretty negative interview experience with Optum. Before my final interview I was given practically no information about the interview besides the time and day. I followed up via email with some pretty basic questions about the interview, and each time they responded with just a couple of words as if I was being a burden. I really enjoyed my conversation with my interviewer, and he said I should hear back within a week. The next day I get an automated email from UHG saying they would have a decision by the end of the next week (7 days). I didn't hear anything for 14 days. I received no contact information for my Recruiter so I had no way to reach out to them. I've never had an interview process that felt this "robotic". I was very excited about this company and program, but the interview process really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Tell us about a time where you had to learn a new technology to solve a problem
Aptitude test was round 1. After that around 50 students were selected for interviews. They had an HR round first, and then technical round. HR round was just a formality and sort of a hygiene check. Technical round was relatively easy and comfortable

Asked me to explain pseudocode for following question:
You have a string that is made of 'AM' substring. It can only be expended in 2 ways: 'AMAM', 'AAMM'. Now the 4 letter string can be expanded in 5 ways by inserting 'AM' anywhere in the string. If given a long string, how to check if it is valid and following the above rules

There was a phone screening and then a remote interview. Remote interview just asked for the basics, fundamentals of computer science, and any related experiences. It was a long friendly conversation.

The interviewing experience for their internship, consisted of a video-recorded interview and a virtual zoom interview. Mostly behavioral questions with a few questions about past technical work on your resume. The interview was with a real engineer at the company, not an HR person.
