My interview with Octopus Energy was indeed one for the books. As someone with the mentality that interview stages are usually just 2 rounds at the max, having to scale through 5 stages was indeed a huge feat but a good one :) It goes to show that Octopus Energy are particular about the people they employ. After my application online , the company’s talent team reached out to me. A nice lady by the name Aasimah. I was able to fix a time to have a video interview via teams with her. My interview with Aasimah was relaxing as she provided me with adequate tips prior. After the interview I had to complete some verbal and numerical assessments that were not so hard I guess ( you have to prepare for it though because they are timed so this makes it tricky ). I loved the idea of the assessments because it boosts fairness and allows the company judge her candidates in an objective pov. I scaled through this stage and was then invited to a discovery day 4 days after via zoom. I particularly was at my best on this day because I got to meet other applicants about 30 in number and some employees at Octopus. It was fun and everyone related really well, it felt like we had known ourselves prior. We were then splitted into teams of three in breakout rooms to gauge our abilities to function in a group. We were tested on how we would approach and solve various customer service scenarios and also asked to brainstorm on a potential product/partnerhips Octopus Energy could venture into. These tasks lasted for about 30 minutes combined. There was then a final individual interview with 2 employees that involved behavioral and competency questions that was almost similar to the interview held with the recruiter. I particularly enjoyed this interview because the people I met with seemed really cool and so it boosted my confidence. There was a general Q/A session in the main room lastly where we asked questions regarding the company. The discovery day lasted for 3 hours in total from 9:30am- 12:30am. The next day, I got a mail from my recruiter Aasimah that I had progressed to the last stage. And as usual she had adequate tips for me. The final round interview was also a video interview via google meet with an Operations manager and a Team Leader. It was quite straightforward, a rundown of the job details and some other behavioral and competency questions similar to the initial interviews. They were really cool and I felt super relaxed. The next day, I got a mail that I had been offered the job and I couldn’t contain my joy because I really did hope for it plus I did a LOT OF RESEARCH ( This is really key ) The total process took two weeks + from application to job offer.
