I was taken into a room to complete 5 short timed test that were irrelevant to the job description. I am a former teacher and the test were poorly written and irrelevant.

4 section exam, from the 50's very time restrictive. Mental math is huge here. Vocab, logic and word problem section as well. If you dont know something, move on and answer as many questions accurately as possible.

I contacted a family friend who worked at NSAI and he passed my resume on to the Petroleum Analyst coordinator for the Houston office. I have a heavy Math background (earned a B.S. in Math, worked for the past year as a financial advisor), which the recruiter liked. She called me in for preliminary testing. I scheduled a day and showed up for testing, which consisted of four tests that were heavily math based (think GRE level math). It was mainly speed math (arithmetic with integers, fractions, and decimals) and classic shop math and arithmetic (think college math tests from the 50's). Immediately after testing, the recruiter interviewed me on my background and resume. Upon reviewing those tests, the recruiter had me come back in to interview with the actual engineer/analyst team I would work with. They talked about the job and asked me some basic questions. After the interview, they spoke with the recruiter, and an offer was extended. I still need to meet with the CEO of the company to negotiate salary and benefits, as well as possible start date.
The whole process took me about 3 weeks, as I live out of town and had to specifically schedule when I could come in. It usually takes much less time.
