      Solicitud

Envié una solicitud electrónica. El proceso duró 8 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Mozilla en jul 2019

      Entrevista

The entire process is long and drawn out. I applied on June 21st, and was alerted that they hired for the position already on August 15th, 2019. Timeline: 6/21: Encouraged to apply by Director of department. Applied. 7/1: Recruiter emails with screening questions 7/2: Recruiter sets up time for phone interview 7/3: Phone interview went well, very positive 7/4 - 7/17: radio silence 7/18: Recruiter emails positively, says we can set up next interview, offers calendar for scheduling 7/23: Scheduling coordinator emails with interview date and time, very positive 7/29: Have interview with hiring coordinator. Goes well, get direct contact info, explains the next steps and who I'll talk to next. 7/30: Recruiter emails positively, says we can set up next interview. 7/31: Scheduling coordinator emails with interview date and time. 8/1-8/5: In contact with hiring manager, prepping for next interview. 8/6: Second interview, interviewer no-shows during our meeting time. Coordinator says she'll look into it, never replies. Hiring manager says he'll look into it, never replies. 8/9: Recruiter emails that all interviews are on hold, and he'll get back to me. He does not. 8/15: Reached out to the Director to learn if they'll be restarting interviews soon. Learn that the position has already been filled by another candidate, with an apology for the understaffed recruiting department. I gave nearly my entire summer to preparing for and learning about this company, the process, the mission, their product and content. I waited weeks between any contact at all because I know this is an excellent opportunity. When I was told the interview process would be put on hold, I thought it was maybe a hiring thing or an issue with my interviewer. It was not, it was just a softer way of letting me down and drawing out this process even longer. June 21st to August 15th. This position was not technical, but on a writing team to manage the content on the site and its blogs, and to help bring it all together into one resource. The two people I interviewed with, the recruiter and hiring managers, seemed very professional and quick - they know their stuff and live and breathe Mozilla's mission for a healthy, people-first internet. My questions weren't highly technical, but more focused on supporting communities and brands, and ensuring that I have a good grasp and understanding of how the web and how brand work. The process has been exciting, enlightening, encouraging, but most of all, disappointing and drawn out. I see a few other positions that I'm interested in applying for, but will not after how it all concluded. I was literally sitting waiting and refreshing, waiting and refreshing for my last interview, growing more anxious by the minute, only to learn a week later from someone totally uninvolved in the process that they've already hired someone else. The recruiter, hiring manager, and coordinator didn't even know that. If you manage to get a job at Mozilla, buy a lottery ticket. You're one of a kind to get through the interview process.
