The entire process with them was terrible. They refuse to answer emails outside of the business hours, which is unusual in my opinion but acceptable -- assuming they are willing to be halfway competent in communications during the day. First they completely butchered my travel plans to come interview with them, telling me they were impossible to fix. After a few calls to their travel companies, I was able to take care of the matter in a few hours, but it was their responsibility. They forgot to schedule a shuttle to take me from the hotel to the interview day, and when I had asked about this matter multiple times before, they said it was all worked out and that someone would find me in the lobby. Therefore, after arriving almost an hour late to the interview (which they told me was in fact just a meeting to place me in a group, not a technical interview), they proceeded to run 5.5hrs of non-stop interviews. I thought lunch would be a nice break, but that was a joke when it turned out that I was eating with interviewers who thought the lunch was a good opportunity to grill me more thoroughly. After dealing with all of these problems, I lost my phone on the trip back, so I insisted that we needed to communicate by email in order to determine reimbursement forms. The reimbursement process was the second-to-last straw, where I continued to email and call the company to no avail, with no one reimbursing me. After a month of this, I finally was able to contact a member to ask about reimbursement, and whether I had even gotten the position. They had apparently neglected to tell me that I had not received the position -- which I think is reasonable considering my lack of preparation for the unanticipated technical interview. However, when I told them that in the future it could be polite to let interviewees know that they had been rejected or accepted, they gave no apology for any of what I went through with them. (A simple "We are sorry that no one was in touch with you" would have sufficed.) In retrospect, I am quite happy that I did not get accepted, or decide to go there. If they can't even run a recruitment, how can they possibly run a company? (Note that I had already passed two rounds of interviews which DID include technical questions, so they should have been treating me at least with some respect.) Generally, I am not one to post my poor experiences with a company because I feel that sometimes miscommunications happen, and there is no reason to slander just because of a temporary dissatisfaction. This entire process happened about two months ago, and I decided that perhaps other people should be better informed. After coming to Glassdoor and seeing the countless negative reviews from people who have actually worked at the company, I feel strongly that company as a whole does not respect or value its' employees. This is not the kind of place you want to end up, whether it is for a couple of years, or the rest of your life.

Make sure to have read all the literature on electro chemiluminescence if you decide to interview with them, because they only want specialists. That said, you would be a complete idiot to want to work for them.

Pretty smooth. You meet with your direct leader first, goes over things about the team and the company and you're off to the real interview. You need to present on a previous project and how that aligns with the job you are applying for. Then you meet with the team and answer some behavior based questions. Some technical questions will be asked as well, but nothing above the level you're applying for.

They instituted several rounds of intense, technical interviewing. The technical interviews consisted of a lot of questions about protein binding in assays, and even with a ton of preparation about how each kind of assay worked, they asked questions until they could find a point where they could stump you. I prepared very hard, then after about 30 minutes of answering every one of their questions correctly, they got upset and stooped to asking about specific, esoteric analytes that no one who didn't come from a related project could know. I started interviewing with them in October of my final year of college, and they implied that I was not allowed to interview with other companies during the MSD recruitment process. This was a BIG mistake--never allow a company to manipulate you like that. They strung me along through several rounds, and after indicating in the final round that they really liked me, I waited 6 weeks, emailed them, and didn't get an email back for another 2 weeks. At this point, it was May when they finally told me they decided to hire a different candidate. I went on glassdoor before I applied to MSD, and I read terrible things about them, but brushed it aside as I was excited about the work they do. DO NOT BRUSH THESE WARNINGS ASIDE. And if you still decide to apply there, PLEASE keep your options open and apply to other places at the same time.
