I was contacted by a recruiter at QDStaff about a game artist position at their North Vancouver studio. No remote work was offered considering I live in another province, but they promised to assist with relocation.
I had a casual HR interview that went pretty well, but they stated that they don't have Art Directors on their teams because "everyone has a voice." This already seemed like a sign of poor management, but I submitted my resume and portfolio anyways.
A few days later, I received a rejection email stating that "they are looking for that 'wow' factor which we cannot describe and they did not see it in your portfolio."
This behavior is not only unprofessional, but also disrespectful. Please train your recruiters to be mindful of their language toward candidates. The current job market is already tough, and to deal with this type of behavior is shocking, to say the least.
