Recruiting team was really helpful, and can only say positive things about them.
Had initially a general phone call with a tech lead, then two phone interviews (google hangouts): one for system design, the other for the management part.
System design interview was with a Lyft employee in London. Employee was very friendly and professional.
Asked me a system question as was supposed to, but also questions about managing projects, people, etc.
Don't know if my replies were what he was looking for (as I never got any feedback for the interviews), however questions made sense, and the overall discussion was very pleasant.
Then, I had the management discussion. Talked to a person in California.
Asked me at the very beginning what my best team so far was.
Replied my current (which is actually true), and then he became very aggressive, telling me more or less that if this is the case, I shouldn't be changing job.
Apparently, it was hard for him to imagine that people might just want to change location, or go to a company that they consider better, and will thus grow professionally.
After that, he talked several times about my "perfect team", being very ironic towards me and unprofessional, to the point where I had to stop our discussion, to tell him that this is something I never said, and I only said this was the best I had.
Then he asked me about a conflict inside my current team, and how I solved it, and I explained to him that current team is small, people fit very well with one another, and in general didn't have to solve and internal conflict, only with people from other teams.
Interviewer made again no effort to hide that he really didn't like my response, which I don't consider the most professional thing.
He was not interested in how I might have solved conflicts in past teams, or anything else, was just openly challenging what I told him.
Then asked me a couple of questions about diversity, and finished the interview around 10' early, which was quite a relief for me.
On one side I am thinking I should never have applied to Lyft, since then I would have avoided this really unpleasant experience of the last interview, on the other hand now I know, so I can stay away from this company in the future.
Most people I interacted with were okay, but even the slightest chance of working with the last interviewer makes ever considering Lyft again impossible.
