I applied online and was contacted within the same week. I had a phone interview first and was then asked to fill out a few preliminary tests before I came in for an in-person interview the next week. I met with three different strategists (all separate) that all had their own specialties that I'd be working with directly. Majority of the questions were to get an understanding of how my approach to SEO aligns with their business goals and how I would assess particular situations from a technical standpoint. I was asked about content strategy, backlinks, and any paid strategies.
I was then asked to schedule another round of interviews for the next week while they reached out to my provided references. In this final round, I spoke with the VP of Strategy and the COO to talk more in depth about my experience, where I stood in terms of my skill level and reliance on previous SEO teams, my particular digital marketing philosophies, etc. Then I was given some time with the CEO and wrapped up with some of my own questions about the business.
Overall, the experience was thorough, friendly, I never felt like I was being interviewed by people that were above me, as I have many times in the past. It was clear early on that I had something to share with this team and that they were intrigued to get to know me and what I could offer them. Equally, they were more than happy to tell me about themselves when I asked and even sent me follow up emails once I received the offer.
