Very strange. After being referred by a current employee, I had an initial phone screen with HR. It lasted about 15 minutes - we discussed the general outline of the role, I provided topline background on my skills and experience, and it seemed as though we were aligned from a general level. The tone was super positive and friendly. The HR person said he’d schedule a call with the hiring manager as a next step. “You’ll have an email in your inbox in the next 5 to 10 minutes!” Unfortunately, that email never arrived. I followed up the twice and not even a response. I’ve been on both sides of the table as a candidate and hiring manager, and I’ve never had someone indicate an immediate next step without 1) meaning it or 2) any kind of follow through. It’s unfortunate since the tech is intriguing, but the lack of professionalism says a lot, too.
