Callback about a week after applying. Spoke on the phone for 45 minutes with HR/hiring manager. Call went very well and they were very personable, professional, and knowledgeable about the role. A more technical interview that lasted a little over an hour was scheduled for a few days later. Admittedly, I went in with low standards upon reading the reviews here on Glassdoor and decided to use this interview for practice only, but the two people who conducted this were markedly different than the first person. The second call seemed ill-prepared. The technical portion of the interview was riddled with inconsistencies in the role play exercise. For example: traffic was said to be dropping before hitting the firewall, yet they said there were live log entries on servers sitting behind the firewall; 5XX server errors appearing after I had already asked if there were any; and missing log files, among other things. Overall I’d give the process a 3.5/5, but that’s definitely buoyed by the preconceived notions I had going in. Had both calls been with the latter group, this would definitely be a negative experience.
