I applied online by submitting my resume. They did not require a cover letter. About 4-5 days later I received a call inviting me to an "employee screening" scheduled a couple week later. Luckily, I knew someone who had worked at LB for years and gave me some pointers. I came dressed professionally, around 5-10 minutes early, and ask many questions. Okay, details: I arrived and was invited in a small room with the employee screener and one other candidate. We were given folders and told to fill out our availability. We were then given a brief presentation about the history of the company, the philosophy, goals, etc. The last few slides of the presentation outlined the process of two of their programs. I then took a spelling test, in which the screener orally gave us a word and used it in a sentence. Words were not difficult, but were obviously chosen to assess whether you had basic spelling skills (I remember some, I think "medieval," "charlatan" and "pusillanimous" were on there). The last 5 blanks were "nonsense words" which basically just assessed whether you have a solid grasp of phonics. I then worked with the other candidate to do a mock tutoring session to evaluate if you could follow the directions of the programs that were outlined. We switched off being the student and clinician. After that, I took a 30 minute "critical reasoning" standardized test that evaluated your knowledge of inferences, deductions, conclusions and assumptions. Afterwards, I met privately with the screener for a short interview. Questions were standard such as "3 strengths and 3 weaknesses." That was it--I got a call a week later accepted their offer.
