They look for free consulting via interviews.
You will be interviewed by two young engineers, who seem to have gaslighted managers into making them the gatekeepers of infrastructure in the company. They solely manage a lot of the infrastructure with questionable methods and practices. You can find videos of them online speaking at universities.
If you find those, you will notice not only they have problems holding a presentation and answering basic questions, but the solutions they have presented as revolutionary are in reality very basic but they seem to have convinced management.
During the interview and the mangled questions they made, when I answered all of them, even with corrections (with evidence I presented during the interview) all of the time they were looking at the camera with a disgruntled face of disbelief and invalidated every answer I gave "Well what an interesting way to solve it although it is wrong." When I answered "I'm sorry but this is a documented industry standard" and I showed evidence they just immediately switches subjects, this went on for the whole interview.
They went on to report to the recruiter that I did no have enough technical knowledge. The next month I got relocated to this city by a FAANG. It seems they are just looking to keep their control and avoid any person who would let management know their lack of expertise, then they use interviews as a way to gather information when they can't solve an issue and also to show management they can't find someone competent in theory, because no one else interviews you.
One of them is based in the US and one of them in Netherlands but you will see them at every conference. If they are your panel of interviewers, you know what you are into.
