I have 13 years of Construction experience, both on the client and general contractor sides. I had been following Laminar for a while and was really excited about the opportunity to join. But I want to share my experience for anyone reading this, and I hope Laminar also takes it into consideration. The interview process itself was well-structured and enjoyable. They kept me informed at every stage, which was great. However, the interviewer seemed quite inexperienced. His way of speaking wasn’t professional, and he spent a lot of time talking about themselves rather than actually getting to know me. At the beginning of the conversation, He went on about his rapid promotion, how he became a Lead Consultant, and even how he would soon be a Director. He also mentioned that he had control over almost everything in the company, managing a 10-person team in Europe while also working on the company’s software, which apparently had been stagnant for a long time but was now in a much better place—because of him. On top of that, he even hinted that he might become the CEO in the future. After all this self-promotion, he suddenly started recording the interview without asking, which didn’t feel right at all —he didn’t even know what some basic Construction terminology was, and I doubt he actually knew how to use any planning software. After doing some search on LinkedIn, I realized I was right. Even though I got an offer, I wanted to do more research. I reached out to a few people working at Laminar via Linkedin, luckily one of them who worked directly with the interviewer. Almost all of them said he didn’t really know what he was doing and that he was always micromanaging people. What surprised me even more was that some of their planning team didn’t have actual construction or consultancy experience. When I saw that they had hired an automotive engineer as a Lead Planning Consultant, it made me question how the company was structured. In the end, I decided to decline the offer. I think Laminar should have more experienced people evaluating candidates’ technical skills during the interview process.

The Interview was smooth, straightforward and respects the time of all participants within the agreed appointment. There is ample time for preparation and there is communication prior to the interview. They also took the time to give a response even if it was unfavorable to my end which is highly appreciated.
