Varying by position in additional details, an IT resource will be vetted over the phone by no fewer than 3 people (HR, technical expert and hiring manager - likely a few others, such as peers and even people outside the functional area you're interviewing). The next round would include an onsite, and that will be a full day, in most cases. The focus on fit is as important as qualifications, if not moreso. From there, there might be follow-up calls, or an offer. Either a rejection OR an offer might take a while, depending how proactive the hiring manager is, and the current temperature of the position to be filled.
