I completed a cognitive assessment, recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, and a virtual onsite with four back-to-back interviews. I was initially rejected after the screen, then re-invited when the hiring manager reconsidered. Across all five interviews, I didn’t meet a single woman or person of color. A female POC originally scheduled for the panel was quietly replaced last minute, and the recruiter wasn’t aware until I brought it up. As a woman of color, the lack of DEI and representation stood out.
All interviews were recorded using AI software, with no one asking for consent. The opt-out was buried in the calendar invite, and their disclaimer stated that if you’re uncomfortable with tools like BrightHire, the company might not be the right fit (an unnecessarily rigid stance).
The recruiter was communicative and offered feedback, which I appreciated. But overall, the lack of transparency, shifting expectations, and company values that prioritize impatience and shareholder value over inclusion left a negative impression.
