The actual interview was great. It was more of a conversation between myself and the staff than them just asking a lot of one-sided questions. I first met with the Director of Career & Professional Development (she has now left the university) for about 15 minutes. I then met with two other staff for 15 minutes and then two more for another 15. After, I was given a tour of the campus by one of the students - who was a great and enthusiastic tour guide. Overall, I was there about an hour and a half between conversation, interview, and the tour.
A couple days later I was called by two different staff to say that I was offered the job, however, the President & Vice President of the university were to "officially" offer me the job. Over the next two days, we were setting up an appointment for me to be offered the job and complete paperwork. During this time I was also anticipating a move so I was contacting a realtor and getting ready to relocate. The next morning I get a voicemail from one of the staff saying, "The search committee moved in a different direction, have a nice day". I wasn't told why and I was not given an apology. While I know I wasn't "officially" offered the job by the VP and President, I was told I was moving forward to be in the position by more than one person. It was very unprofessional and rude. They need to find a better way to handle their process of moving from interview to meeting with the VP and President so others do not get their hopes up like I did.
